Zirka Circus

Today we had some very talented girls from the Zirka Circus come and perform for us. The children and teachers were amazed at the skills they had. The circus is on in Havelock North this Friday-Sunday if anyone was interested in going.

Life Education and Harold

This morning Room 11 went and visited Harold and Anne in the Life Education truck. We learnt all about ways to keep our bodies healthy and safe. We helped find things our bodies need to put Anne's poster. Then we packed an overnight bag filled with things for Harold to be safe and happy.

Number Rockets

In Room 11 we are very clever mathematicians!! Today we made number rockets. We chose the starting number and challenged ourselves to count backwards from that number. Some of us are counting backwards from 10, 20 100 and 1000!! We are getting clever at writing our numbers the right way around. Come into Room 11 and see if you can read our Number Rockets!

Melting Experiments

Today we did some predicting about things that would or wouldn't melt. We used the heat from the microwave to see if things would change and melt. We tested chocolate, crackers, tiny teddy biscuits, chocolate chips, kit kats, ice, jelly lollies, butter and coconut oil. We used our eyes to observe. Here are some photos of what happened!

Maths Measuring

Today we brought out favourite teddy or soft toy to school. At maths time, we measured our teddies to see how long they were. We made sure we started at their feet and went all the way to the top of their heads. Leonard's had the longest teddy. It was 52 cubes long!! Zara had the shortest teddy. It was 5 cubes long. Great measuring and counting Room 11!!

Our visit to The MTG Museum

The children loved the trip to the museum last Friday. The bus trip was a highlight. There were so many olden day things for them to experience.  It makes you appreciate the advances in technology that make our lives easier!! Here are some photos from the trip. Your children will be able to talk about the photos with you. Thank you to those parents who were able to come with us.
